Refugee Crisis and their Effects

Refugee Crisis

What are refugees?

Refugees Crisis are people who have left their country because of persecution, war, or violence, have lived in another country, and are unwilling to return to their home country because of fear. Some become refugees because of political, religious, or communal persecution in a country.

Asylum is granted in every country or state on a humanitarian basis, but asylum-seekers seek to establish their advantage by exploiting the facilities they receive.

(Meaning of World Refugee Day 2022)

World Refugee Day is celebrated around the world on June 20th every year. This day is celebrated by the United Nations to recognize the courage and spirit of refugees around the world. These people are forced to stay in their country and seek refuge in other countries due to domestic violence or other reasons. The refugee problem is now a serious global problem, and there is no clear solution in sight.

Migration from Russia and Ukraine

In October 2022, the United Nations listed 7.6 million Ukrainian refugees across Europe. This includes her 2.85 million in Russia. Many of the latter were sent there by the Russian occupiers and subjected to a “filtering process” to uncover credible reports of war crimes, including evidence of executions. On October 3, 2022, about 2.9 million refugees from Ukraine due to Russian aggression were registered in Russia. Furthermore, by December 6, 2022, more than 1.5 million people are said to have fled to Poland.

What is the Syrian refugee crisis?

The Syrian refugee crisis is a humanitarian emergency sparked by the civil war in Syria, which began on March 15, 2011. The conflict in Syria has taken a heavy toll on millions of lives, children and their families. Syria, plagued by terrorism, has become a country where every citizen thinks about migration from time to time. Currently, the biggest challenge for refugees is apartments and housing.

A record 82.4 million of her people worldwide are undergoing forced elections. The number is the highest since World War II, according to a report by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. About 26.4 million migrants worldwide come to other countries as refugees.

Indian refugees:

The refugee situation in India Refugees from Pakistan due to the 1947 partition. Tibetan refugees arrived in India in 1959. The Chakmas and Hajongs arrived from East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in the early 1960s. In 1965 and 1971 more refugees arrived from Bangladesh.

According to UNHCR, as of January 31, 2022, over 46,000 refugees and asylum seekers are registered with UNHCR India. These mostly come from Myanmar and Afghanistan. Indian refugees and asylum seekers live mainly in urban areas. Refugees in India have rights under Articles 14 (Equal Rights), 20 (Freedom from Punishment of Crimes), and 21 (Right to Life) of the Constitution. Muslims were also exempt from the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) of 2019.

Rural migrants were then reintegrated through land grants, agricultural loans, and housing subsidies. Industrial and vocational training programs were offered to urban refugees, and grants were provided to start small businesses or industries. In cities like Amritsar, industrial housing was built for widows.

Refugees should be treated equally with citizens of the host country with respect to the right to:

Free religious practice and religious instruction. Free access to courts, including legal aid.

The refugee problem is so serious that the United Nations has appointed a High Commissioner to investigate and assist refugees.

The concept of global citizenship has not yet materialized. But one of its attractions is that it can make it easier to deal with these issues on both sides of the border.
