Kangana Ranaut is an Indian actress born in Himachal on March 23, 1987. She was born into a Rajput family in Bambra (now Surajpur), a small town in the Mandi district of Pradesh. According to Ranaut, she was “stubborn and rebellious” during her childhood.

Biography
Ranaut began her short modeling career at the age of 16, after which she trained under theater director Arvind Gaur. She made her film debut in the 2006 thriller Gangster, won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut, and starred in the dramas Woh Lamhe… (2006) and Life in a..Metro. received praise for portraying an emotionally intense character. Ranaut now lives in Mumbai with his sister Rangoli, who was the victim of an acid attack in 2006. She visits her hometown of Bambra every year. A practicing Hindu, Ranaut follows the teachings of spiritual leader, Swami Vivekananda, and considers meditation “the highest form of worship to God.” She is a vegetarian and was voted ‘India’s Hottest Vegetarian’ in a 2013 poll conducted by PETA.
Ranaut has been studying Kathak her dance form since 2009 from Nateshwar Nritya Kala Mandir. She says the technical process of filmmaking is so interesting to her that in 2014 she enrolled in a two-month writing course at the New York Film Academy to deepen her understanding of it. In an interview with Filmfare, she said she wants to live her normal life despite her fame.
