Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) India conducts the Indian Post & Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service (IP&TAFS), a civil service or competitive exam in India. The exam is for the Department of Telecom and the Department of Posts’ recruits in India. The Indian Post and Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service is part of the Union of India’s Group “A” Central Civil Services.
Who all are eligible to sit in the exam?
- Nationality of aspirants eligible:
- Citizen of India;
- The subject of Nepal;
- The Subject of Bhutan;
- A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India for permanent settlement before January 1, 1962.
- Citizens of India; Migrants from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam for permanent settlement in India.
- Individuals who are described as ex-servicemen in the Ex-servicemen Act will be referred to as ex-servicemen. Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers, including ECOs/SSCOs, who are released at their request will not be eligible for the age concession.
- A Bachelor’s Degree from one of the recognized universities is required. Candidates who have taken or will take the qualifying exam and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates with government-recognized or equivalent professional and technical qualifications are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates who have passed their final year of MBBS or any other medical examination but have not yet completed their internship can also take the Main Exam.
- Such candidates must submit a certificate from the relevant university stating that they passed the final professional medical examination.
- A candidate must be at least 21 years old and not older than 30 years old on August 1st of the examination year.
- The following is a list of age restrictions that can be relaxed:
- For Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) candidates, up to a maximum of 5 years.
- For Other Backward Candidates, a maximum of three years may be granted (OBC).
- For a candidate from the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the maximum period is five years.
- Personnel from the Defence Services may be sentenced to a maximum of 5 years. Ex-servicemen, including Commissioned officers and ECOs/SSCOs, who have completed at least 5 years of military service and have been released, can serve for up to 5 years.
- For ECOs/SSCOs who have completed a five-year initial period of military service, the maximum period of assignment is five years.
- Blind, deaf-mute, and orthopedically handicapped people can get up to ten years.

- Spectrum Auction of 2G, 3G, and 4G Spectrum Assessment and Collection of License Fees and Spectrum Expenses Paid by Telecom Licensors;
- Policymaking at the Departments of Telecommunications and Posts;
- Financial Management of the Postal and Telecommunications Departments;
- Department of Telecommunications and Department of Posts Internal Audit;
- Bharat Net Project’s Designated Monitoring Authority (the backbone of Digital India);
- Accounting for the Postal Service and the Department of Telecommunications;
- DoT, DoP, BSNL, and MTNL Pension Management;
- IP&TAFS, GrBuilding a Resource Development and Capacity Building.
