Every year, the UPSC holds the Combined Medical Services Examination (CMSE) to recruit medical graduates for positions in various Central Government Organizations and Services. The Combined Medical Services Examination (CMSE) is held in line with the regulations published in the Gazette of India by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The UPSC holds the Combined Medical Services Examination (CMSE) every year to order to shortlist candidates for medical officer positions. In ordinary, more than three lakh people apply to take the exam. Aspirants will be chosen based on their performance in an online written examination consisting of two papers. Each paper will last two hours and be worth a maximum of 250 points.
For the following positions, the UPSC conducts the Combined Medical Services Examination (CMSE):
· Category I: Junior Scale Posts in Central Health Services
· Category II: Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Railways
· Category II: General Duty Medical Officer in New Delhi Municipal Council
· Category II: General Duty Medical Gr.-II in East Delhi Municipal Corporation, North Delhi Municipal Corporation, and South Delhi Municipal Corporation.
Required Eligibility:
· A candidate must have passed both the written and practical portions of the final MBBS examination to be admitted to the exam. A nominee who has taken or will take the final MBBS exam is also eligible to apply.
· Otherwise, if eligible, such applicants will be admitted to the exam, but their admission will be considered provisional and subject to cancellation if they do not produce proof of passing the written and practical portions of the final MBBS Exam, as well as the detailed application that will be needed to be presented to the Commission by candidates who meet the criteria based on the written examination results.
· A candidate who has not completed the mandatory spinning internship is academically eligible to sit for the exam, but will not be appointed until he or she has completed the mandatory rotating internship.
· A candidate for this examination must not have attained the age of 32 years as of August 1, the year of examination.
· The upper age limit is relaxed;
· Candidates belonging to SC/ST can be up to five years old;
· Candidates belonging to OBC can be up to three years old and still be eligible for reservation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· The Indian government has the authority to submit the officer to any dept to serve its staff members, retirees, and dependents.
· The medical officer is in charge of assigning duties to medical staff and ensuring that the OPD runs smoothly.
· When an emergency occurs, the medical officer makes plans to distribute work.
· During normal OPD hours, the officer manages his staff and is permitted to organize laboratory services.
· The medical officer will be hired and assigned to any of the central departments.
· The medical officer is expected to perform medical duties similar to those of any doctor.
· The medical officer should be available within an 8-kilometer radius only, as his or her assistance may be required at any time. When it comes to accommodations, bonuses, salary, and other things, the medical officer will receive the same treatment as other central government employees.
