Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, visited the late musician Sidhu Moosewala’s home in Musa village, Mansa district, where he met his family members and expressed his sincerest sympathies.
He also paid Moosewala a floral tribute at his home. Rahul showed up at 11:50 a.m. and stayed with the singer’s family members for about 50 minutes before going at 12:45 p.m. During his visit, he has been seen hugging and speaking to Moosewala’s father, Balkaur Singh.
Later, Rahul chastised the government for its law-and-order policies. “It is hard to describe the sadness which the family of Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala Ji is experiencing,” Rahul added. It is our responsibility to bring them to fairness and equality, and we will.”
Because of Rahul’s visit, protection was increased outside Moosewala’s home. Rahul was accompanied to Musa village by Pradesh Congress Committee president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Congress Legislative Party leader Partap Singh Bajwa, state affairs in-charge Harish Chaudhary, former minister Vijay Inder Singla, and others. All of these leaders had previously greeted the former AICC head of state at the Mohali airport.
Shortly before Rahul showed up, Congress’ Patiala MP Preneet Kaur, who is the wife of former Congress leader Capt Amarinder Singh and was continued to serve a show-cause notification last year for an accusation of anti-party actions, visited a visit to the singer’s home and voiced deepest sympathies, but she left first before former Congress chief arrived.
Sidhu Moose Wala is one of the most popular and known singers in the Punjab music industry. The 28-year-old rapper had become one of the most well-known faces of Punjab’s flourishing hip-hop scene within only four years. His voice can be heard on DJ turntables at Delhi’s flashy parties, creaky stereos at rural India’s tea stalls, and every potential radio channel in Punjab. The 28-year-old singer was killed by unknown gunmen while driving near his village in Punjab state.
The assassination has sparked a political uproar in the state, with opposition politicians criticizing the government. According to state police, a gangster from Canada was responsible for the attack. Moose Wala’s family has denied this, accusing the police of failing to do their work adequately. In the midst of it all, protests broke out in surrounding villages as fans and followers of the singer took to the streets, and called on the government to issue a call for calm. The case has now been referred to a high court for investigation by the state’s chief minister.
Rahul was out of the country at the time of the murder and brought back over the weekend. In December of last year, Moosewala decided to join the Congress in the presence of Rahul ahead of the 2022 Assembly election. The late singer ran for the party ticket from the Mansa portion but was defeated by AAP’s Dr. Vijay Singla, who now is imprisoned on charges of corruption.
