Chinese Products Ban – Helps to grow Economy

These are the reasons why there are protests going on in India to ban Chinese products.

For the year 2017-18, India imported goods from China worth $ 76.2 billion dollars but exported only $33 billion dollars. This is why there is a trade deficit. India needs to reduce this trade deficit to help grow its economy. Chinese products ban in India. But for the years 2020-2021, the import ratio rose by 7.2%, from 70.31 billion to 65.21 billion. In 2016 the sale of Chinese products during the Diwali season went down by 60% because of the social media trend “Boycott Chinese products”. Chinese products ban in India. These campaigns on social media are still in trend. Indians are still demanding replacements for Chinese products.

Despite the fact that Chinese goods are being banned because of China’s behavior toward India, Chinese products are hazardous to the environment as well as human health as they use low-quality products for their manufacture. People from other countries have also been protesting against Chinese goods for several years because of quality concerns. Chinese products ban in India. Many Chinese products like plastic goods and firecrackers are found to be an environmental hazard because of the use of low-quality materials in the making.

In India, because of these cheap Chinese products, the business of Indian manufacturers especially medium-small, and micro enterprises (MSME) is getting hurt. Indian manufacturers can’t make such cheap products because unlike in china they don’t use mass production methods for the production. MSME makes 12 types of products and it’s sad that most of these types are being imported from china. Cheaper Chinese toys make the Indian toy industries bear the loss.

Chinese industries don’t spend money on innovations or research, they just copy the recently innovated goods from other countries. So, it is morally wrong to import these goods.

But as we know that every coin has two sides, this case also has two different sides or faces. Though we have many points in the support, we need to know that technically it’s not possible as India is a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in which China is also a member and in this organization, it’s not possible for a country to ban imports from other member countries. Also, removing cheap products from the country will make trouble for the poor and middle-class people as then they need to spend more on their necessities.

For some goods, India and also other countries are dependent on China. For example, for some Indian industries, capital goods come from china. If we buy capital goods from another country then we will have to pay a higher price than this and in turn, it will raise the cost of the product which is not good for the economy.

Some primary goods are also being imported from china to make final products not just in our country but in other countries too. And for those primary goods, India has no replacement available. These are the reasons why it’s not possible to completely ban Chinese products ban in India. We can take steps to achieve a balance of trade and reduce dependence upon Chinese products. It is always good for a country to be self-dependent rather than roaming here and there for just small primary goods. India needs to improve its manufacturing culture to produce goods at low prices and at high speed.
