The Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IAAS) is a government of India Group A civil service. The IAAS is a central government service that is overseen by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and is not subject to executive control.
The IAAS’ main responsibilities include auditing and maintaining the accounts of the Union and State governments, as well as public sector organizations. The Institute of Auditing and Assurance Services (IA&AS) is in charge of auditing and maintaining the accounts of the Union and State governments, as well as public sector organizations.
Its role is similar to that of the GAO and the National Audit Office in the United States (United Kingdom). Directly recruited officers are primarily trained at the National Training Center after joining the IA&AS.
Eligibility Requirements:
· Candidates must have a degree from one of the UGC-accredited universities or an equivalent grade to be eligible to sit for the exam.
· A Bachelor’s Degree from one of the recognized universities is required of the candidate.
· Candidates who have taken the certification exam and are awaiting results, as well as those who have not yet taken the qualifying examination, are eligible to take the Preliminary Exam.
· Including the application recognize for the Main Examination, such candidates must provide proof of passing the said examination.
· Candidates with government-recognized or equivalent technical and professional qualifications are also eligible to apply.
· Candidates must have passed their final year of MBBS or any other medical exam but have not yet completed their internship and can also take the Main Exam. They must, however, submit proof of passing the final professional medical exam from the relevant university.
· Nationality of aspirants eligible:
· Citizen of India;
· Subject of Nepal;
· The subject of Bhutan;
· A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India for permanent settlement before January 1, 1962.
· Citizen of India; Migrants from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam for permanent settlement in India.
Roles and Responsibilities:
IA&AS officers have a venerable position that needs a lot of obligation and respect. It is also necessary for an officer to be physically and mentally fit and healthy to handle the pressures of work without succumbing. An IA&AS officer is assigned the following roles and responsibilities:
· The Institute of Auditing and Assurance Services (IA&AS) is in charge of auditing the accounts of the federal and state governments, as well as public sector organizations;
· Keeping track of state government finances;
· Its role is similar to that of the GAO and the National Audit Office in the United States (United Kingdom).
