The tragic news of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s death came as a shock to everyone. According to police sources, he has gunned down over 30 times by 8 to 10 assailants yesterday. Also, after firing so many shots, the assailants inspected to see if he was still alive on Sunday, May 29 in Jawaharke village, Mansa district.
Sidhu Moosewala, a native of Moosa, a village in Punjab’s Mansa district, began his career as a singer with the duet song “G Wagon.” The blockbuster 2017 song “So High,” which he published on his YouTube channel, was his boarding pass to fame. Following “So High,” Moosewala’s hits included “Issa Jatt,” “Tochan,” “Selfmade,” “Famous,” “Legend,” “47,” and “Game.”
Sidhu Moosewala released his first album, PBX 1, in 2018. In 2020, he released Snitches Get Stitches, and in 2021, he released Moosetape. In 2019, Spotify included him in the list of the most popular artists in Punjab, along with Maninder Buttar and Karan Aujla.
But, unlike his peers in the Punjabi pop and rap scene, Moosewala’s songs lacked objectification of women and idolization of liquor and drugs. The singer was known for writing songs in response to scandals. He strained relationships with several singers and wrote songs to embarrass them. Relatives, critics, journalists, and ‘haters’ were not spared by Moosewala.
Aside from singing, Sidhu Moosewala dabbled in acting. He starred in the film Moosa Jatt, which was released in 2021. Yes, I Am Student, Teri Meri Jodi, and Jattan Da Munda Gaun Lagya all featured Moosewala.
Even after the sudden death, Sidhu Moose Wala would always be the iconic figure in the music industry.
