The Rise of Kannada Movies
Upcoming Kannada Movies – In today’s modern world, almost nothing is free of competition. The rivalry has always followed the path of success, from politics to movies. Bollywood, India’s most important entertainment industry, is currently in decline. It is because regional films, particularly those from south India such as Telugu and Kannada, have now taken over the film industry. India has long been recognized for its significant contribution to the global film industry.
It continues to be the world’s largest film producer while expanding Indian cinema’s global reach. Today, Bollywood has expanded its market beyond the traditional South Asian territories. Its burgeoning success drew unprecedented scholarly and media interest. The box office revenue of the Indian film industry was estimated to be around 139 billion Indian rupees in 2020. Furthermore, it has the highest viewership in the world.
However, Bollywood is currently on a downward trend. It is losing audience retention due to the emergence of Telugu and Kannada films. While Kannada and Telugu film industries have seen success with films such as KGF, the Telugu film industry has a significant advantage over its regional counterparts in terms of a strong domestic market.
Apart from that, the most profitable market for Telugu films has been the international market. Notably, Telugu and Kannada had a 14 and 12% share of film releases, respectively, in 2019. Without a doubt, filmmaking is now more expensive than ever.
Some filmmakers, on the other hand, bring out the best creative ideas during production in order to reduce the budget of their films while maintaining the highest standards of entertainment. South Indian Telugu and Kannada films appear to fit the frame perfectly.
The context derived from the roots of Indian culture is the main reason for Telugu and Kannada films’ enormous popularity. The best message that any film can receive is word-of-mouth promotion from its audience. This was evident in the case of Rishab Shetty’s recently released Kannada film “Kantara,” an action thriller written and directed by him. The film is about a Kambala champion, who competes in a buffalo race held every year in Karnataka.
The term “celebration” refers to the act of celebrating a special occasion. It could have simply used some dramatic VFX features to create a sway of sensation and excitement, similar to how Bollywood wanted to leave people in awe with its high-resolution visual effects. The technique, however, shook the big starrer film itself because it carried no specific story and resulted in a high ratio of critics.
Aside from that, low-budget films are generating a lot of buzzes and generating a lot of revenue and audience retention. There have been numerous cases where low-budget films have made more money than high-budget films.
Bollywood is becoming fully awake and is busy disconnecting from its audience, whereas South Indian films are being made to connect with India. They do not denigrate the family system in the name of being critical. It is past time for Bollywood to focus on its creative aspects, as the South Indian industry is poised to push it out of the film industry.
