‘Agniveers’ would be given a personalized payout of Rs 30,000 each month during their initial annum, increasing exponentially annually to Rs 40,000 in its 4th period. They would also get danger and suffer payments online with the other 3 sectors. During its employment, 30% of its pay would be invested in the Agniveer foundation account, starting at Rs 9,000 each month during the decade and gradually increasing to Rs 12,000 every month with the 4th decade.
So, what prompted the administration to take some action?
India set aside $5.25 trillion for defense expenditure for this year’s Union Budget. But of that, $1.19 trillion was spent on ex-pensions. servicemen’s Salaries and pensions account for more than 70% of military spending, as per analysts. By 2020, India would have over 32 lakh military retirees, with this figure increasing by 55,000 annually. It left the force with limited seating for capital spending, such as the purchase of high-priced weaponry, sophisticated defense equipment, warplanes, and so on.
The state endorsed the implementation of the one-rank-one-pension program in 2015. It assured that army members leaving from the same grade with the same decades of employment received the same compensation, regardless of when they retired. It imposed a “great budgetary load” here on the state, according to then-Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar. The administration seeks to lower the pension expenditure in the long term by implementing the ‘Agneepath’ system.
A further advantage of the policy, according to the administration, is that it would reduce the military’s age range. India does have the greatest young community on the globe. Around 40% of the population is between the ages of 13 and 35. According to Rajnath Singh, the initiative would progressively reduce the total age of troops from 36 to 24-26 yrs.
However, the idea caused a schism among military professionals. Many people support it, but others believe it would reduce the military’s fighting efficiency.
However, there had been a feeling of doom between military hopefuls in northern Indian cities, per some sources. The recruits of the ‘Agniveer’ could be handled as guests or worse, travelers. They also claimed that comparing themselves to other nations is incorrect. Due to a major scarcity of recruitment, several countries offer shorter terms of service. In certain cases, enrollment is compulsory, and in others, it is optional.
