History

On September 14, a Hindi day or day is observed. Following India’s independence in 1946, the constitutional assembly recognized or accepted Devnagari lipi as the national language of India on September 14th. This day was declared Hindi Day by our first Prime Minister in September.

When it comes to the relevance and value of the Hindi language, it is irreplaceable. Hindi has an ancient heritage and is linked to the Sanskrit language, and it reflects cultures as well. At the moment, Hindi is the language of over a billion people. Hindi is not one of the most important languages, but it does have the recognition and respect of the Indian people. Hindi is always used as a bridge language to connect two Indians from different parts of the country. In India, there are officially 22 languages with 72507 lipi, but only Hindi links which reflect the integrity of the country.

World Hindi Day is observed on January 10th and is observed globally. As was discovered throughout the colonial period, colonization did not uproot broadly but did leave a cultural imprint. To combat the growing English mode or Hindi ignorance, the concept of Hindi as day or day was introduced.

Today, we can witness our prime minister being vociferous in Hindi even in foreign countries, demonstrating how they maintain the authenticity of the Hindi language.

Importance

Even Hindi Day is for promoting the importance of Hindi not just for a day but for a lifetime, as the government is aiming to promote Hindi at the grassroots level through education, which has been incorporated into the national education strategy. The NEP education policy also supported Hindi.

Hindi is the fifth most widely spoken and utilized language. But do you know why the fifth? Because the young of today take Hindi for granted, they forget that it is a genuine means of communication and even feeling. On Hindi Day, the Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar and Rajbhasha Gaurav Puraskar awards are also presented to ministries, departments, public sector units (PSUs), nationalized banks, and citizens for their contributions to the promotion of Hindi.

On this Hindi day, certain Kavi sammelans would also organize.

Significance

On September 14, Hindi Day is observed. This day is significant because it commemorates the adoption of Hindi as an official language by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. The conference was inaugurated by then-prime minister Indira Gandhi, and 30 countries participated. In 2006, official prime minister Manmohan Singh declared January to be Hindi Day.

To make Hindi a part of public opinion, it is not necessary to quit one’s own mother tongue; rather, Hindi is being promoted by the country at large to impart the importance of the Hindi language and a sense of belongingness and loyalty to Hindi.
