World Smile Day

World Smile Day

On World Smile Day, everyone is urged to undertake a kind deed and brighten the day of one person. On World Smile Day every year, the Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation hosts special activities. In Worcester, Massachusetts, the birthplace of the yellow smiley face, the day is extremely well-liked.

The foundation has over the years staged a variety of unusual events, such as the largest human Smiley face in the world, balloon releases, choral performances, sidewalk chalk activities, college concerts, circus performers, and pie-eating competitions.

You can plan your own World Smile Day celebration if you don’t reside in Worcester. There are numerous ways to observe the day.

  • Give someone a random act of kindness.
  • Include an emoji happy face in each text you send.
  • Spread the joy by distributing stickers with happy faces.
  • To everyone you encounter, smile.
  • Tell a joke to someone.

Play upbeat music, such as Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” or Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.”Selfies of smiles should be posted on social media with the hashtag #WorldSmileDay. And enjoy your day, whatever you do!

History of World Smile Day

Harvey Ball designed the well-known yellow smiling face in 1963. The cheerful face design was made by Massachusetts-based commercial artist Harvey Ball for a State Mutual Life Insurance Company promotion. Ball’s happy face was intended to provide happiness and goodwill to all people. The ball started to worry as time went on that his image was becoming more commercialized. In doing so, the smiley face’s fundamental purpose is was disorienting. Ball did not, however, copyright the design.

Ball stated the first Friday of October each year would be dedicated to smiles in order to restore the original purpose of his happy face. It was observed as World Smile Day. After Ball passed away in 2001, the Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation was established. Since then, the foundation has sponsored the joyful celebration in an official capacity.

World Smile Day 2022’s theme is “Do a kind deed.” Smile for one person. Every year on the first Friday in October, World Smile Day is observed. It’s a day dedicated to giving hugs and smiles. World Smile Day, which was first observed in 1999, calls on people to be nice and make others smile in an effort to recapture the iconic smiley face’s original meaning and intent.

Harvey Ball, a local artist in Worcester, provided us with many reasons to smile. And this Friday, on World Smile Day, the grin widens a bit. World Smile Day was established in 1999 by Ball, the creator of the smiley face, as a way to inspire people to smile and do good deeds for one day. Harvey Ball proclaimed the opening Harvey Ball established every year’s first Friday in October as International Smile Day. He wanted people to set aside a day every year to spread happiness and do good deeds in all corners of the globe. In 1999, the first World Smile Day was observed.

World Smile Day is observed on October’s first Friday. The holiday was established in 1999 by the late Worcester artist Harvey Ball and encourages spontaneous acts of kindness.

The same as always, except after completing it, you can let everyone know that you participated in the #worldsmiledaychallenge (also known as the #wsdchallenge) on this #worldsmileday. You’ll feel wonderful. When millions of people take the challenge, the planet will feel better. So spread the word on your social media platforms about the #worldsmiledaychallenge (also known as the #wsdchallenge).
